(QNO) - The Tan Thanh fair is a must-visit tourist attraction, taking place every weekend at Tan Thanh fishing village (Hoi An, Quang Nam).
The weekend fair at Tan Thanh fishing village is a popular spot for travellers, expats, and locals, featuring eco-friendly products, organic goods, and community activities. Goods at the fair include personal items, household goods, collectibles, handmade products, and local specialties.
The fair also includes cultural activities attractive to locals and travellers, such as music, street food, art performances, fundraising events, and English exchange between children and foreigners.
Several community-based tourism villages and various ethnic groups in Quang Nam and other provinces often participate in the fair to showcase their products and traditional cultural performances.
In particular, the community-based tourism service at Tan Thanh fishing village was recognised as a provincial 4-star OCOP product in early 2022.
In order to create a distinctive eco-friendly tourist attraction, Tan Thanh fishing village prioritises sustainable tourism development and green living practices. The village has built a material recovery facility to sort and gather solid waste, turning it into a zero-waste tourism community.
In addition, Tan Thanh often organizes environmental protection events, such as the Marine Environment Installation Art Festival. In Tan Thanh, there are also community houses where local products are sold.
In 2023, Tan Thanh was one of four Vietnamese units receiving the ASEAN Community Tourism Award 2023 at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
