Opening 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships
(QNO) - The opening ceremony of the 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships took place at the Pickleball Court Complex of the Ban Thach Hotel in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province on the morning of October 5.
The 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships is being co-organised by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, the Asian Pickleball Federation, and the DHL Event Media Joint Stock Company.
In his opening speech, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Nguyen Thanh Hong, said the tournament attracts more than 100 players from 6 countries and territories, including Malaysia, Japan, China, India, Taiwan (China), and Vietnam. The players compete for 12 sets of medals in various categories, including men's and women's singles, as well as men's and women’s doubles, from U12 to U16.
The 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships taking place in Quang Nam is a great chance for the province to promote sport activities and introduce its landscapes, cultural and historical sites, cuisine, potential, and socio-economic achievements to international and domestic friends, attracting more visitors to the locality.
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world now. In Vietnam, pickleball was first played in 2018 and has become popular in many provinces and cities nationwide since then.
The 2024 Asian Open Junior Pickleball Championships takes place until October 7.
