Usuda Reiko, a member of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Kawasaki City, is staying at U Café, on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street (Hoi An).

Usuda Reiko moved to Hoi An in 2009 after witnessing the struggles of poor children and students during her visits to Vietnam.

She developed U Café, which has become a popular spot for locals and travellers. Usuda Reiko has coordinated the donation of around 12,500 bicycles and school supplies for underprivileged children in Quang Nam and Danang.

She also supports young entrepreneurs in developing and exporting eco-friendly products, including Vo Tan Tan's bamboo bicycles, to Japan and the EU. Usuda Reiko collaborates with local and international organisations to aid orphans, street children, and environmental projects.

In 2013, Usuda Reiko received the Social Contribution Award for her efforts, including donating over 12,000 bicycles to underprivileged children in Vietnam.

Usuda Reiko has promoted the relationship between Japan and Vietnam through her activities. So, in 2013, she received the Social Contribution Award.

Reportedly, over 12,000 bicycles were sent to underprivileged children in Danang and nearby areas from 2003 to 2017. In 2020, Reiko was honoured by Japan’s Foreign Minister for fostering cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.

Usada Reiko's café provides jobs for local women, particularly those who are illiterate, facing challenges, or belonging to ethnic minorities, through non-profit projects.

Additionally, Usada Reiko is launching a picture book on water conservation to raise environmental awareness among the youth. Usada Reiko plans to hand over her projects to her Vietnamese manager and son to incorporate fresh ideas.
