Tightening Quang Nam - Sekong comprehensive cooperation
(QNO) - A meeting between Quang Nam province (Vietnam) and Sekong province (Laos) high-level delegations took place in Tam Ky city (Quang Nam) on September 27. It aimed to assess how well the two parties' implementation of the memorandum of cooperation had gone.
Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee - Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam Party Committee - Nguyen Duc Dung, Chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee, and other officials of Quang Nam attended the meeting.
On the Sekong side, Party Secretary and Governor of Sekong province Leklay Sivilay, Chairwoman of the Lao Front Committee for National Construction Bunhien Bunchit, Sekong Deputy Governor Khamsone Konnho, and Consul General of Laos in Danang city Souphanh Hadaoheuang were present at the event.

Speaking at the meeting, Quang Nam's Chairman Dung, emphasized the meeting contributed to the good cooperative relationship between the two provinces.
He said the working visit of the high-level delegation of Sekong province was a vivid demonstration for the Quang Nam - Sekong special traditional friendship.
At the same time, the Quang Nam - Sekong cooperation and exchange have recently developed in all fields, achieving several important results, contributing to socio-economic development, national defense and security of the two provinces, and fostering the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos in general and the provinces of Quang Nam and Sekong in particular.
Giving his speech at the meeting, Party Secretary and Governor of Sekong, Leklay Sivilay, suggested more supports in education and healthcare for people in the border areas of the two provinces. Sekong committed to supporting scholarships for Quang Nam officials and students to study Lao language in the coming time. The two sides should create more favourable conditions for mutual businesses, particularly in the fields of agriculture and minerals.
Delivering a speech at the meeting, Quang Nam Party Secretary, Triet, said Quang Nam and Sekong have many advantages, and great potential to increase the scale of cooperation. The two provinces should further strengthen the special friendship and cooperative relationship, such as focusing on cooperation in the economy, tourism, trade and investment.
