Young people return to their rural hometown to promote local food
(QNO) - This approach not only improves their income but also enhances the value of agricultural products, contributing to local economic development.
In Quang Nam province, more young people are returning from the cities to their rural hometown to start businesses, with many achieving success through creative and unique ideas.
Ms. Phan Thi Ha (Duy Xuyen district), previously worked as an accountant for a company in Ho Chi Minh City. However, she decided to return to her hometown and start her own venture. In late 2022, she founded the Phong Nguyen Agricultural Cooperative, headquartered in Duy Xuyen.
Phong Nguyen Agricultural Cooperative currently produces three main product lines: grapefruit peel essential oil, fermented grapefruit juice, and distilled grapefruit liquor. Its primary markets include Da Nang, Quang Nam, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City, with products sold through social networks.
Similarly, Pham Thi Duy My from Nam Phuoc town, Duy Xuyen district, founded the Duy Oanh Green Agricultural Cooperative, specializing in nutritious cereal products.
The cooperative supplies 5 tons of cereals annually, generating over VND 1.5 billion in revenue. Its product range includes roasted rice tea, cereal powder, brown rice powder, rice cakes, rice seed bars, and seaweed.
The cooperative has also partnered with local farmers to develop raw materials such as rice, sesame, lotus, and beans, creating jobs for local workers.
