(QNO) - A delegation from the National Assembly of Laos led by Vice Chairman Sommad Pholsena had a working visit to THACO (Truong Hai Group Corporation) in Quang Nam province on September 4.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Chairman of the Quang Nam People's Committee Le Van Dung received the Lao National Assembly delegation.
Speaking at the reception, Secretary of the Quang Nam Party Committee, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, expressed his pleasure to welcome the Lao delegation. He emphasized that Quang Nam has a close relationship with the southern provinces of Laos.
In addition, Mr. Triet talked about THACO’s contributions to Quang Nam’s socio-economic development.
Currently, THACO has several large-scale projects in Southern Laos.
Therefore, Mr. Triet hoped THACO would receive more support from the Laos' Party, National Assembly and Government, and Southern Laos' localities, thereby contributing to the development of the Southern Laos in particular and Laos in general, and enhancement of the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
Currently, THACO is investing in an agricultural complex specialising in fruit cultivation and large-scale livestock farming. The farm covers a total area of over 27,000 hectares in Attapeu and Sekong provinces in Laos.
The group has also implemented the Nong Khang Airport project in Xamneua district, Houaphan province, with a total value of US$82 million. The airport is currently operational with a frequency of 22 flights per week.
Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Sommad Pholsena thanked Quang Nam leaders and THACO for their warm welcome. He said he would recommend to the Lao National Assembly, Government and relevant ministries, and localities in Southern Laos to create favourable conditions for THACO to effectively implement its projects in Laos.
Previously, the delegation from the Lao National Assembly visited the THACO’s automobile production and assembly factory.
