Strengthening protection of natural heritage sites
(QNO) - The Quang Nam provincial People's Committee has issued an official document directing the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment to continue enhancing the management and protection of the natural heritage in accordance with Law on environment protection in Vietnam.
Previously, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) received responses from 44 localities, compiling a list of natural heritage sites nationwide.
In its communication to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities, the MONRE noted that the regulations on managing and protecting the environment of natural heritage sites are relatively new, leading to limited implementation and incomplete information regarding these natural sites.
To further promote the management and environmental protection of natural heritage at the local level, the MONRE requested the local authorities to review, evaluate, and update their reports on implementing relevant legal regulations.
Based on local data, the MONRE has drafted a national list of natural heritage sites. The Ministry has asked localities to provide, update, and correct information on natural heritage within their jurisdictions, as well as to share proposals and recommendations to advance their management and protection.
