The seminar aimed to introduce and promote the tourism potential and tourist attractions in Hoi An, Dien Ban, and Duy Xuyen. At the same time, the event came up with sustainable solutions for linked tourism development.

Present at the seminar were over 100 delegates from government agencies, businesses, community tourism organisations, and local and international sustainable tourism experts.

The seminar included the application for international experiences and certifications in green tourism growth, product innovation, destination management, and sustainable tourism promotion in Quang Nam.

The delegates also discussed policies to improve and enhance the sustainability of the provincial tourism sector based on the assessment results from the 2023 Vietnam Tourism Development Index.

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has reportedly expressed significant support for the early success in implementing the Quang Nam Green Tourism Criteria.

In the near future, Quang Nam will focus on building mechanisms to actively assist enterprises and local people in implementing pilot green tourism models in rural and mountainous areas.

Sibylle Bachmann, Head of Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, stated at the seminar that through SECO, the Swiss government is supporting Hoi An in becoming a globally recognised sustainable tourism attraction.

Switzerland will continue to assist Quang Nam to update green tourism criteria and help tourism businesses achieve international sustainable tourism certifications. Additionally, Switzerland will promote the development and implementation of local policies to advance the tourism industry in a sustainable direction.

Bui Kien Quoc, an architect from the French Academy of Architecture, talked about supporting policies on developing green tourism through using Triem Tay community-based tourism village as an example.

Switzerland has been actively assisting Quang Nam in encouraging sustainable tourist development since 2018, advising and supporting the construction of the green tourist criteria as well as the development of green tourism models and products.
