National treasure brand development for Ngoc Linh ginseng
(QNO) - Ngoc Linh ginseng, referred to as the supreme ginseng, is a rare endemic plant with a limited distribution, recognised as one of Vietnam's national treasures thanks to its superior medicinal values compared to other ginseng species globally.
Ngoc Linh ginseng, which grows in high mountainous regions, has absorbed the essence of heaven and earth and is rich in essential nutrients that are good for human health.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is inherently regarded as a miracle medicine curing all ailments by ethnic minorities in the Ngoc Linh mountainous areas of Quang Nam and Kon Tum.
Pharmacologically, Ngoc Linh Ginseng can aid in the treatment of sickness, especially in rehabilitation, fending off toxins that damage cells, and cell-life extension. In terms of the economy, it is seen as a key crop for poverty alleviation in ethnic minorities and a wise choice for investors.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is primarily cultivated in Nam Tra My (Quang Nam) with over 15,500 hectares and in Tu Mo Rong and Dak Glei (Kon Tum) with approximately 1,240 hectares.
Quang Nam and Kon Tum are determined to make use of the advantages of medicinal plants and Ngoc Linh ginseng in the coming time to develop ecotourism, especially ginseng tourism.
They will strengthen forest management and protection, reforestation, and ginseng cultivation in combination with forest protection and ecological conservation in the area.
Quang Nam and Kon Tum also want to develop a strong brand to preserve the region's valuable ginseng resources.
