Laos boosts tourism connection with Da Nang city
(QNO) - A programme to boost tourism connection between Da Nang city (Vietnam) and Laos was organized on August 6 by the Tourism Marketing Department under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR.
Present at the event were the Lao Consul General in Da Nang city and more than 40 representatives of travel companies from Lao localities and Da Nang city.
The program took place while the Lao tourism delegation was attending the 2024 East - West Economic Corridor Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair 2024 in Da Nang.
According to Director General of the Tourism Marketing Department of Laos, Khom Douangchantha, the programme was an important chance to promote the development of tourism between Laos and Vietnam and a meeting place where tourism businesses of both sides could meet, exchange, and establish business partners for mutual tourism products.
A representative of the Da Nang Department of Tourism said, in the first 7 months of 2024, the number of Lao tourists to Da Nang was about 17,000 (reaching 86% compared to the whole year of 2023).
In the coming time, Southeast Asian countries, including Laos, are potential markets included in the city’s plan to restore tourism and increase tourist exchanges.
On this occasion, Lao and Da Nang tourism firms had the opportunity to approach, exchange, and introduce tourism information and services in the business-to-business (B2B) meeting space, thereby enhancing the bilateral exchange of visitors between the two sides.
