Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam visits Quang Nam
(QNO) - Olivier Brocher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Vietnam, has recently paid a courtesy visit to Quang Nam. Deputy of the Provincial People’s Committee, Ho Quang Buu, received him.
Reportedly, it was the first time Olivier Brocher had had an official working visit to Quang Nam. At the working session, he expressed his impression of the local socio-economic development over the past 20 years.
According to Ambassador Olivier Brocher, the project on erosion control and sustainable protection of the Hoi An coastline in Quang Nam province is extremely important due to its large funding, the nature of the project, and the open prospects for cooperation during implementation.
This is an opportunity for him to visit the site after the involved parties signed the agreement to implement the project.
It can be said that the project is representative of the specific projects that France is supporting in Vietnam, because not only France but the entire European Union is involved.
Olivier Brocher also provided information about the heritage promotion and tourism development programmes that France will implement in the coming months. He suggested that Quang Nam consider cooperating to foster these issues.
At the same time, he stated that France is ready to share its experience in effectively and sustainably managing river basins, specifically the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin in Quang Nam.
Olivier Brocher hoped the Quang Nam government would provide information about the strengths for promotion in the near future and that the French Embassy in Vietnam would serve as a bridge to promote cooperation.
In reply, Ho Quang Buu expressed his honour in welcoming the French Ambassador to Quang Nam. He also talked about basic information concerning the local socio-economic development and investment opportunities in Quang Nam.
At the same time, Ho Quang Buu also hoped for continued close and effective cooperation between the two parties in the near future. The project on erosion control and sustainable protection of the Hoi An coastline is the start, towards sustainable development and climate change adaptation.
