(QNO) - The Quang Nam Biodiversity Museum, the first-ever provincial-level biodiversity museum in Vietnam, was launched on May 15 at 100 Hung Vuong Street in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province.

The launch of the Quang Nam Biodiversity Museum is aimed at responding to the National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024 under the theme “Living in Harmony with Nature", the International Day of Biological Diversity 2024 with the slogan "Be Part of the Plan", and the International Museum Day 2024 with the theme "Museums for Education and Research”.

The museum will research, collect, store, preserve, display, build, manage, and exploit databases, documents, and samples of the province's biodiversity resources.

The museum is divided into different exhibition areas, including those for flora and fauna, an interactive area, a documentation room, a research room, and a sample storage, processing, and preservation area.

At present, the museum owns 3,700 photos and 1,200 specimens of flora and fauna, datasets, documents, digital maps, images, and videos of the biodiversity in Quang Nam.

In addition, it receives specimens from provincial-level science and technology missions, such as green turtle specimens from Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area and grey-shanked douc langur skeletons from Tam My Tay Commune People's Committee (Nui Thanh District).

The Quang Nam Biodiversity Museum is expected to contribute to enhancing public awareness and the sense of responsibility of local officials and residents in preserving the province's biodiversity.
