Free meals for the elderly and orphans in Hoi An
(QNO) - The dishes that foreign tourists prepare at the cooking class in Sabirama Restaurant (Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) are sent to the elderly and orphans at the Quang Nam Centre for Social Protection.
A delegation of 20 tourists from the US feels very happy and excited to give meals to the elderly and orphans at the Quang Nam Centre for Social Protection.
They hope there will be more people taking part in this volunteer activity.
These American tourists prepare 120 meals at the Cooking Class and then directly deliver them to unfortunate people at the Quang Nam Centre for Social Protection.
It is the first time Sabirama Restaurant has had a cooking class that engages visitors in volunteer activities.
These visitors make an optional contribution in cash to the preparation of 120 meals containing meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, soup, rice, and bananas for dessert.
On this occasion, the owner of Sabirama Restaurant, Truong Van Quy, sends milk and diapers to the elderly and children at the centre.
The cooking class tour has become popular with visitors to Hoi An. Those who take part in the cooking class prepare the dishes by themselves and enjoy them.
However, using the dishes prepared by visitors for volunteer activities is rather limited. Sabirama is the first business to organise this volunteer programme.
The programme results from Quy’s idea and visitors’ approval. He hopes to create responsible tourism products for the community through this volunteer programme.
