The Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee has lately submitted to the Ministry of Health a project on the foundation and development of a centre for the pharmaceutical industry in Quang Nam, of which Ngoc Linh Ginseng is the key tree.
According to the project, Quang Nam has enough conditions to establish a centre for pharmaceutical industry in Central Vietnam, linking with two other centres in the Northern and Southern regions, contributing to the development of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry.
Quang Nam has enough conditions for the development of the agricultural, forestry, and pharmaceutical industries, including a large area of agricultural and forestry land and a variety of medicinal herbs.
According to the statistics from Vietnam’s Institute of Medicinal Materials, there are 832 species of medicinal herbs, 36 of which belong to Vietnam’s Red Book. Many of them have high economic values.
According to Ho Quang Buu, Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, it is necessary and significant to carry out the project on the foundation and development of a centre for the pharmaceutical industry in Quang Nam.
It helps promote the development of medicinal plants, contributing to the growth of the agricultural and rural economies in mountainous districts, the transformation of crop structure, and the improvement of local product values and local income.
