Thuy’s hi-tech farming
(QNO) - Vo Thu Thuy’s hi-tech model of cordyceps cultivation has achieved initial success.
Organic Cordyceps
Vo Thu Thuy is a biotechnology engineer. She has cherished the dream of discovering a precious medicinal herb for human health. So, she decided to cultivate cordyceps.
In 2022, Thuy founded the Tam Anh Nam Agricultural and Medicinal Cooperative, which specialises in providing useful products from organic cordyceps.
Thuy is cultivating cordyceps from the flour of Thien Uu rice and silkworms. The Tam Anh Nam Agricultural and Medicinal Cooperative is now providing four products, including freeze-dried cordyceps, cordyceps soaked in honey, cordyceps cakes, and cordyceps juice.
Thuy had to put in a lot of time and work to reach her achievements.
She is the recipient of start-up honours at the province and district levels, as well as the Luong Dinh Cua Award for a typical young farmer.
Providing more high-end products
Vo Thu Thuy has made the linkage with farmers in Tam Anh Nam commune, Go Noi Asparagus Company (Dien Ban), Phu Yen CNC Mushroom Company, and Vietnam Agriculture Joint Stock Company (Thai Nguyen) to create a linking chain for organic cordyceps production, processing, and consumption.
At the same time, Thuy orders and buys Thien Uu rice at a higher price than that of the market so that farmers can earn a stable income and feel secure in rice production.
She is also planning to buy more Thien Uu rice in order to expand her scale of cordyceps production in the coming time.
Thuy is now rather satisfied with her start-up process. The brand of her cordyceps products is identified and has a competitive advantage in the market.
Thuy’s products of cordyceps are sold at many stores and agencies nationwide and on e-commerce channels, reaching a revenue of VND 1.5 billion per crop and making a profit of VND 250 million per crop.
Currently, Thuy is making more high-end cordyceps products, such as bird's nest stewed with cordyceps, and cordyceps and ginseng.
Reportedly, Thuy’s product of freeze-dried cordyceps has been approved as a provincial 3-star OCOP product. She is making every effort to develop it into a 4-star OCOP product.
At the same time, she intends to enhance her manufacturing capacity, advance technologically, and elevate the quality of her cordyceps products for export.
