Holidaymakers flock to Da Nang during Tet holiday
VOV.VN - Da Nang, a major tourist destination in central Vietnam, has attracted large numbers of visitors during the ongoing lunar New Year holiday (Tet), with 111 flights to the city every day.
The municipal Department of Tourism says approximately 777 domestic and international flights are scheduled to fly to Da Nang during the seven-day Tet holiday, starting on February 8.
The local tourism industry is expected to welcome 402,000 holidaymakers, representing an increase of 37% compared to the corresponding period last year. Of the total number, 177,000 are foreign arrivals.
Data from hotels and guesthouses shows that the visitors have mainly travelled individually, accounting for about 60 - 70% of the total.
Domestic travellers were mainly from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring central provinces such as Quang Nam, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Ngai, while foreign visitors were mainly from the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), Japan, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and the US.
Major tourist destinations that have welcomed large numbers of visitors on this occasion include Sun World Ba Na Hills (more than 82,000 visitors, up 8% year on year); Asia Park (nearly 35,000 visitors, up 16%); Marble Mountain (nearly 40,000 visitors, up 31%); Son Tra peninsula (more than 70,000 visitors, up 57%); Mikazuki water park (nearly 11,000 visitors, up 50%); and Nui Than Tai hot spring (nearly 8,000 visitors, up 44%).
