Thousands of antiques presented Quang Nam Museum

(QNO) - Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism received thousands of antiques and precious objects from three organizations to Quang Nam  Museum.

Among them, 184 artifacts and antiques belonging to the collection of the Dong Son culture (from 1000 to 1 BC), including production tools, offerings, weapons ...), a collection of the later Le Dynasty currency are donation  from UNESCO Centre for Research and Conservation of Vietnamese Antiques (UCRCVA). 1,420 Chu Dau pottery antiques were given by Doan Anh Duong Co, Ltd., who fished the ancient wrecked ship out in Cham Island sea region. In particular, the 200-kg bronze statue of  Hoang Dieu (a governor of Nguyen Dynasty, 1828-1882) was casted and presented by Vietnam Historical Society.

Mr. Doan Anh Tuan, Director of UCRCVA suggested that Quang Nam should soon establish a fixed and mobile museum of the “Silk Road on the sea” between the 7th and 18th century. Tuan promised  UCRCVA will  present Quang Nam Museum a collection of musical instruments, jewelry, production tools…

Currently, Quang Nam Museum has collected more than 20,000 artifacts. The museum (under construction) is expected to complete at the end of 2014 with the exhibition space of 2,950 m2 in the 3-floor block and 4,500 m2 outdoor.
