Activities marked Hoi An Ancient Town recognized as the World Cultural Heritage
(QNO) - On December 4th 1999, Hoi An Ancient Town was recognized as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Marking the 14th anniversary of this important and significant event, many interesting activities were held in Hoi An city on December 4th 2013.
A Marathon race themed “ For the future of heritage” attracted 500 participants from 50 units of army, schools, communes, wards of the city and tourists.

“These activities will the heritages’ values and create an exchange opportunities between Hoi An’s residents and tourists. Throughout this event, the images of people, culture and heritage of Hoi An city will be promoted to tourists and many people living in and out of the country, encourage them “hand in hand” to save and preserve heritages,” said Mr Nguyen Van Dung, Vice-chairman of the Hoi An city’s People’s Committee.

Another activity attracted many people’s attention was the Reviewing and Prize Awarding Ceremony of the Hoi An city’s Souvenirs contest 2013 organised at “I am vey happy to be awarded the prize. It is not only a spiritual encouragement for me. I am very proud of my contribution to the contest to diversify the souvenirs as well as createnew job for disable people…’” said Le Tien Vi - a disabledartisan - received the second prize for the art work “Hoi Town Jar”. Many elementary school in Hoi An gave students a chance to visit Ancient quarter to help them to understand and love more about the values of the “living heritages” which were made and kept by their forefather. In the afternoon, the city opened “The Rest Stop 57“ at the ancient house 57 Tran Phu street. Et It’s an interesting place for tourist to take a relax after sightseeing the ancient quarter. They will get an general view about the unique house space architecture linking 3 ancient houses: 57 Tran Phu street, 46 and 33 Nguyen Thai Hoc street to the Hoai river… By MINH HAIDisabled artisan Le Tien Vi awarded the second prize .
