1,500 artists to take part in the 4th Vietnam International Choir Competition 2015

(QNO) - More than 1,500 artists of 45 choirs from 15 countries and territories ( Australia, Finland, Germany, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) will take part in the 4th  Vietnam International Choir Competition.

This event will be organised  from April 29th  to May 3rd in Hoi An city of Quang Nam province to mark the 40th anniversary of  the Liberation and National Reunification  Day (April 30th )  and the International Workers’ Day (May 1st ).

The contestants will be devided into 6 groups and play in 13 compositions: Male choirs, Female choirs, Mixed choirs (with male and female voices),Chamber choirs (male or female groups), Chamber choir (mixed groups), Under 17 and under 20 year-old vocal groups, Folk song choirs and Hymn choirs…

“This event is a meeting of people who love choir art. It’s also an opportunity for musical exchanges, strenghthening the cultural understanding between the peoples in over the world as well as the international friendship relations, solidarity and cooperation”, said Mr Dinh Hai, director of the Quang Nam provincial department of Culture - Sports and Tourism.

In March 2011 INTERKULTUR and Hoi An city co-organized the first-ever International Choir Competition in Vietnam. It’a not only a successful musical performance, but also a good opportunity for tourism  promotion for this World cultural heritage. The event came back to Hoi An in 2013 and will be executed again in 2015.

According to the International Choir Competition 2015  programme, there will also be street music performances titled “ International Melody” in the Hoi An ancient town to serve local residents and tourists with non- compulsory or non-registered competitive songs such as dances, music instruments… in order  to create a street music festival… All performances in the choir competition are free.
