Quang Nam: The growth of 16 traditional craft villages going with tourism development
(QNO) - On April 7, 2015, the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee issued the Decision No.1222/QĐ-UBND on approval of the project on developing traditional craft villages in association with tourism development in the period from 2015 to 2020.
Accordingly, the objectives of the project are to develop craft villages, traditional villages associated with tourism development in order to create more jobs, increase income for village residents, gradually complete infrastructures. All will contribute to the success in the national target program on new rural building. At the same time, tourism helps to promote, honor the cultural values of the province's craft villages.
For specific objectives: to invest in support of the development of 16 craft villages and traditional ones associated with tourism development with respect to the potential villages in Hoi An, Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Tam Ky, Phu Ninh, Đong Giang, Nam Giang, Nong Son; help to train workers, particularly focus on tourism, foreign languages, executive management, strive for professional labours in 100% of the villages; annually attract over 60,000 tourists to these craft villages in the province; give more jobs to about 3,000 rural labours here.
For mechanism and policy, the province will continue to promote some provincial and governmental existing policies and mechanisms which have brought positive impacts on the craft villages development including the policy of rural infrastructure development (the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 132/2001/QĐ-TTg dated 7 /9/2001) the encouragement to investment and development in small scale craft -traditional villages of Quang Nam province (Decision No 37/2001/QD-UBND on 30/7/2001 of the Quang Nam provincial people's Committee). Additionally, there will be some adjustments in the existing and build some new others to promote the development of these craft villages along with tourism. Particularly, the preferential mechanisms and policies on land, loans, tax, training, infrastructure, science and technology, etc… should be paid more attention. On the list of priorities are building techno-performance models to popularize new technology, participating in fairs and exhibitions, repairing and upgrading the environment pollution processing system... in accordance with Decision No. 2420/QD-UBND dated 05/08/2014 of Quang Nam province.
According to the approved project, the total investment capital is 85 billion VND, consisting of 65,5 billion VND for development investment and 8,610 billion VND for enterprises.
