Quang Nam and Nagasaki: a prospect of cooperative development
(QNO) - Many prospects of the friendship and cooperative relationship between Quang Nam and Nagasaki (Japan) will be opened after the senior visits of two sides’ leaders.

The high-ranking delegation of Nagasaki including 20 members, led by Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture HouDou Nakamura has just visited and worked in Quang Nam province. Earlier, Quang Nam delegation, led by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Van Thanh went to Nagasaki to discuss the investment cooperation in such fields as culture, investment attraction, heritage conservation, education and training.
From a happy marriage
In 1619, Japanese merchant Sotaro came to Hoi An trade port and got marriage with Ngoc Hoa princess- a daughter of Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Lord. In 1620, Ngoc Hoa- one of the first Vietnamese in Japan, lived with her husband in Nagasaki. The tombs of Ngoc Hoa and her husband are located on the hill of Dai Am pagoda. At present, Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange is annually organised in Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) with the participation of the group of culture and arts from Nagasaki. This makes the relation of two countries Vietnam- Japan in general and Quang Nam-Nagasaki in particular more profound. It is also the premise for developing the friendship and cooperative relationship between Quang Nam-Nagasaki in the coming time.
To the prospect of friendship cooperation
In June 2014, the “Vietnam Day” was organised for the first time in Japan’s Nagasaki with the participation of Quang Nam delegation, led by Le Van Thanh.
In the meeting of the recent visit to Quang Nam, Mr Tsutomu Tomioka – Member of the House of Representatives of Japan and President of Vietnam-Nagasaki Friendship Association said that Japan in general and Nagasaki in particular liked to receive nurses and orderlies from Vietnam as well as Quang Nam to work in Japan. In reply, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Van Thu wanted to cooperate with Nagasaki in the fields of human resource training and heritage conservation. Especially, the leaders of Quang Nam and Nagasaki signed the Memorandum of Understanding, a landmark in the two locals’ friendship and cooperative relationship.
