Nam Tra My district develops Ngoc Linh ginseng

(QNO) - Chairman of Nam Tra My district’s People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu said on 1st March 2016 that Nam Tra My district (Quang Nam province) earns 500 billion VND (about 23 million USD) from selling 2 tons of Ngoc Linh ginseng a year. However, most of them are raw materials.

Reportedly, the national master plan on (conservating) conserving and developing Ngoc Linh ginseng with a total investment capital of 9,000 billion VND (about 430 million USD) was approved by the central government in 2015. The project includes infrastructure development, enlarging ginseng planting area, the industries of pharmaceutical products, essential oils and cosmetics, as well as tonic drinks and capsules from ginseng.

In 2015, Nam Tra My District and Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province of South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding on conservation and the development of Ngoc Linh ginseng.
