Sustainable urban development and advanced agriculture in Quang Nam province
(QNO) - On March 17th, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh welcomed and worked with the delegation of UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), discussing the issues relating to urban and agricultural development.
Overview of the meeting |
At the meeting, an Israeli international expert specializing in urban planning, Mr Yossi Offer presented the problems on setting up a Sustainable Urban Development Fund (SUDF) and a Center for Advanced Agricultural Development (CAAD) which have been applied effectively in many countries including of Israel. The SUDF aims to improve the quality of urban infrastructure and limit the use of budget for infrastructure investment. While, the target of CAAD is to build a model of closed agricultural production with advanced knowledge and techniques which is under farmers’ ownership.
In reply, Vice Chairman Thanh highly appreciated the ideas about SUDF and CAAD and expected UN-Habitat as well as Mr Yossi Offer to help to deploy and apply two advanced models under Quang Nam province’s condition.
