The 3rd phase of Hoi An Eco-city project
(QNO) - Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) and Naha City, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture (Japan) have recently agreed to start the third phase of the Eco-city Achievement Support project.
This non-refundable project (with a total investment capital of 50,000 USD, financed by Naha) has been implemented since 2014 to build Hoi An as an eco-tourism city. In the first two phases, it trained many members of staff and managers to deal with environmental fields and provided knowledge on planning eco-tours. The 3rd phase of the project (from April 2016 to August 2018) will train the staff on management skills and give them experiences with wastewater treatment, garbage classification at source and rubbish treatment in Naha.
Besides, Hoi An city, in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has been preparing the groundwork for a US$11.2 million waste treatment project. The project will help treat 2,000 cubic metres of wastewater per day and is scheduled to be put into operation in 2017.
