(QNO) – A ceremony marking the 7th anniversary of the UNESCO’s global Biosphere Reserves - Cham Islands was held on May 26 by the People’s Committee of Hoi An City (Quang Nam province).

The highlight and also the opening of the celebration was an art performance of 90 canoes from Cua Dai to Cham Islands by the local travel businesses. These canoes were charged to carry tourists to Cham Islands this day.
Besides, many interesting cultural and sport activities were organized during the event such as dragon dance, parachute floating, banana boat performance, diving competition, folk music performance, walking on the sea floor, and among. In addition, visitors experienced the daily life and traditions of the people on the island via Cu Lao Night Programme.

On this occasion, the photo contest of “Cham Islands Biosphere Reserves – Hoi An in my eyes”, along with the competition to design the logo for the Cham Islands Biosphere Reserve – Hoi An was launched. The group of volunteers protecting sea turtles on Cham Islands was also awarded.

The event aimed to propagate and raise people’s awareness of the biosphere reserves’ value conservation, towards a sustainable development.
