A talk about ecological role of natural dunes and banks system
(QNO) - On November 23, Hoi An People’s Committee in cooperation with Man and Biosphere Program (MAB) in Vietnam organized a talk about ecological role of natural dunes and banks system and responsibilities for the sustainable development of Hoi An city. Experts and researchers from specialized agencies and international organizations attended the event.

At the event, experts reported that despite having a great diversity of the ecosystem and biome, Cham Island Biosphere Reserve (especially the ecosystem from the upstream of Vu Gia - Thu Bon rivers to Cham islands) is under the bad impacts of human activities including the building of terraced hydroelectric dams, uncontrolled exploitation of forests and minerals, the use of chemicals in agriculture, industry,... They focused on three issues: hydrodynamics; geological stability at riverbanks and coasts, pollution control, anti-erosion; maintenance of biodiversity, aquatic resources development, building local livelihoods for a sustainable development in the future.
