Opening ceremony of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017
(QNO) – The opening ceremony of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 took place at the Tam Thanh Beach Square (Tam Ky city) at 8 pm last night.
Present at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, leaders of central ministries and localities, international organizations and thousands of visitors.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Thu gave a speech at the event that the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 is a large-scale cultural and tourism event in the rich cultural and humanistic land with two World Cultural Heritages: Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary, Cham Islands World Biosphere Reserve and many tangible and intangible cultural heritages, and plentiful landscapes. The Quang Nam Heritage Festival has become a convergence and exchanges of heritage sites, being known all over the world.

Coming to the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 – Heritages Connection Journey, visitors can enjoy international-level musical events, folk melodies honored by the UNESCO and the local singing of Bai Choi in Central Vietnam, and the magical Apsara dance. The festival also includes the spaces of the traditional and modern kites, and some sea sports competitions such as the World Windsurfing Championships, the Vietnam Open Sailing Competition and the kayaking at Phu Ninh Lake.
The festival is the opportunity for people to explore the South and the West of Quang Nam with the Vietnamese Heroic Mother Statue, Ky Anh tunnel, Tam Thanh community arts village, the home of Ngoc Linh ginseng, or the Pomu heritage forest at Tay Giang ‘heaven gate’. Visiting Tay Giang, people can enjoy the rite of setting up the Neu pole by the Vietnam’s ethnic groups, learning about cultural, ecological features and products of the mountainous areas of Quang Nam.
It is also a chance to further strengthen the cooperation of cultural heritage conservation between Quang Nam- Vietnam and UNESCO and other international organizations; to promote international exchanges and cooperation of culture, sports and tourism. The festival also introduces Quang Nam’s tourism potentials to the public, towards building Quang Nam one of the tourism centers of Vietnam.

At the opening ceremony of the festival, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed the solidarity of Quang Nam’s Party, authorities and people resulting to the provincial successes not only in tourism but in socio-economic development. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam wished the land of “Five phoenixes flying together” – Quang Nam to be richer and richer, more and more beautiful.

The art programme at the opening ceremony was very attractive with a lot of messages of cultural heritage conservation conveyed on the background of light art and 3D Mapping.

The 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 occurs from June 7-14 in Tam Ky, Hoi An and some other districts of the province, attracting the participation of 33 countries and territories, and 35 Vietnamese provinces and cities. The festival’s remarkable activities comprise the International Choral Competition, International Kites Festival, Silk and Brocade Festival, World Windsurfing Championships, Vietnam Open Sailing Competition, International Food Festival, Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival, and some workshops on heritages conservation.

The new feature of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 is the promotion of Quang Nam’s and Vietnamese culture, seas and islands cultural heritage exhibition, world sports tournaments. In addition, the festival also aims to promote the development of tourism in South of Quang Nam.
