Closing ceremony of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017
(QNO) – The 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 ended with the monumental closing ceremony in Hoi An city on the evening of June 14 after a week of continuous activities. Present at the event were Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; leaders of Quang Nam province; representatives of central and provincial services, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, international organizations; foreign consuls in Vietnam; national and international experts, scientists, artists, artisans, and athletes.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Festival Organization Board Le Van Thanh gave a speech at the closing ceremony that the festival of Heritage Connection Journey was really successful. It gave Quang Nam a chance to promote its richness of tourism resources as the cultural diversity and a Vietnamese tourism paradise of seas and islands among others. The festival also plays an important part in turning tourism into one of the Quang Nam’s spearhead economic sectors, contributing to provincial socio-economic development.

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh highly appreciated the festival for its diversity of cultural and sport activities, especially the international workshops on heritage conservation and promotion. The introduction of Quang Nam traditional silk, Ngoc Linh ginseng, cultural ceremonies of the Quang Nam’s ethnic minorities impressively illustrated the provincial richness of tourism potentials. The festival was successful thanks to the efforts of both Quang Nam authorities and people. It was shown in the socialization of cultural and art activities, a right direction making Quang Nam fame. She hoped and believed in the continuity of the Quang Nam Heritage Festival with more selective practical activities of culture, cuisine and original tourism products, attracting more investment into Quang Nam, speeding up the provincial sustainable socio-economic development.

Following the ceremony was an impressive program of art performances “Thu Bon, the heritage river” telling the legendary story of Thu Bon River flowing through spiritual cultural places, craft villages and immense sand banks into the sea. It was performed on the background of charming colours and sounds, making audience indulge in the heritage river of folk songs and melodies, Apsara dances, the lively scene of Weaving Queen and so on.

The audience was also impressed by the dramatization of the spiritual river, sparkling night of Hoi An and the reunion river through singing Bai Choi, Seojanggu’s drum duet from Chungcheongbukdo province (South Korea), and Japanese dances of cherry season.

The outstanding art program officially closed an impressive festival spreading from the sea to the delta and mountainous areas of Quang Nam province from 9 to 14 June. The festival of Heritage Connection Journey was the venue of over 2,000 domestic and international artists, actors, artisans, athletes, scientists, and businessmen. There were 22 special activities of culture, arts, sports, and tourism. They left good impressions on each person’s heart.

It is noteworthy that the festival was also an opportunity of international meeting and exchanges in order to find solutions to the conservation and promotion of the heritage values, tourism development in Quang Nam and the Central Highlands. As a result, the Hoi An Declaration was launched, which expressed the common interest in the heritage conservation and promotion associated with socio-economic development, putting the heritages in everybody’s heart and hands.
