Co Tu cultural museum

(QNO) - A museum covering an area of 2,000 m2 for Co Tu ethnic people in Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province will be built in April 2018 by French photographer Réhahn, who designs and funds this project. According to Réhahn, the museum is a solid and modern guol house that is important to ethnic people in mountainous areas.

After visiting Hoi An (Quang Nam province)  in 2011, Réhahn decided to choose this city as his second homeland, where he sets up a precious heritage museum to exhibit the photos of Vietnam’s ethic minorities taken by himself. In 2017, Réhahn organized many Co Tu cultural events in Hoi An ancient town successfully. Last year, Tay Giang district’s Party Committee Secretary Bh’riu Liec visited Réhahn’s museum and offered it a traditional clothing made from tree bark. Réhahn decided to build Co Tu cultural museum as Mr.Liec’s suggestion to conserve cultural features of ethnic people. Mr. Liec felt very happy with such a foreigner’s indulgence in Co Tu culture that he could build a museum to preserve it. Moreover, visitors can buy  local hand-made products or souvenir products in the museum.

At the museum, visitors can use headphones to experience the sounds from musical instruments, inspire fragrance from forests and smoke of the cooking. In this museum, 3 languages of English, French and Vietnamese will be used. Réhahn will spend a lot of money  from selling his photos building this museum. The objects exhibited in the museum will be collected from A Luoi, Nam Dong (Thua Thien Hue), Nam Giang, Dong Giang, Tay Giang (Quang Nam) and Laos. Hopefully, the museum will become an attractive tourism destination.
