THACO opening the biggest Mazda plant in Southeast Asia
(QNO) - A grand opening ceremony of THACO Mazda plant was inaugurated by Truong Hai Join Stock Company (THACO) in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (Quang Nam province) on March 25. It is the biggest and the most modern Mazda assembly plant in Southeast Asia. Participants in this ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and leaders of central agencies and Quang Nam province.

On the same day (March 25), an international shipping route linking Chu Lai and Japan was inaugurated. The port also welcomed the first vessel transporting automobile spare parts and equipment from Japan’s Hiroshima prefecture to Chu Lai port.

According to Chairman of THACO Tran Ba Duong, after a year of construction, the first phase of THACO Mazda plant project finished with a capacity of 50,000 units in the total of 100,000 units per year. This plant reaching to the global standard of Japan’s Mazda not only creates the confidence for domestic consumers but also meets export demands to the countries in the region. CEO of Japan’s Mazda said he was proud to support THACO to assemble Mazda by fully automatic technology.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Mazda plant, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc believed the development of THACO in particular and Quang Nam province in general through this event. At the same time, Prime Minister Phuc highly appreciated the prestige of Japan’s Mazda in building the biggest and the most modern Mazda factory in Southeast Asia, towards exporting Vietnam’s cars to the regional countries.
