An old rhododendron forest in Tay Giang

(QNO) - At the height of over 2000m on the Annamite Range of Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province, people find an old rhododendron forest that makes everyone astonished. It is considered an extremely unique population of rhododendron in Vietnam.

The rhododendron forest covering an area of 450 ha comprises two main families, broadleaf and coniferous trees. They live with each other without any other species.

There are 435 rhododendrons aged 100 and over. They are recognized as Vietnamese heritage trees. The rhododendron forest is considered a treasure in Tay Giang forest of high trees.

At the end of winter when rhododendron flowers begin blooming, the forest looks like a colourful brocade covering the peak and the sides of the mountain.

In February, rhododendron flowers are fully blooming. The landscape of the forest becomes extremely beautiful and attractive. Moreover, the appearances of the trees in the rhododendron forest vary depending on the height, climate and the blow direction, which makes it more strange, interesting and charming.
