THACO exports Vietnam branded buses to Philippines
The handover ceremony of 15 Vietnam branded buses for export to the Philippines was organized in Chu Lai port, Quang Nam province, Central Vietnam on December 18 by Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO).
The localization rate of these buses is over 45%. They are equipped with EURO 5 engines, which meet the emission standards, being efficient in fuel and environmentally friendly.
Their exteriors (body, chassis, mechanical components, composite components) and the interior (lighting systems, seats, wires, glass, plastic components) are designed and manufactured in Chu Lai. THACO has also made a deal of 200-bus export in 2020 with the Philippines’ Autodelta company .
Since 2005, THACO has provided over 17,000 buses for Vietnamese market, accounting for 65 percent of the market share.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Vietnamese Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said this event was very significant for THACO in particular and Vietnamese automobile industry in general.
The export of Vietnam branded buses to the Philippines will pave the way for the export of automobiles made in Vietnam, and increase regional and global integration.
According to Chairman of THACO’s Board of Directors Tran Ba Duong, THACO committed to further investing in automobile manufacturing and support industries to improve the Vietnam’s competitiveness in the global value chain.
Also on December 28, THACO exported some automobile spare parts to the Republic of Korea and Japan.
In 2019, THACO exported 186 vehicles. It plans to export 1,026 vehicles of all kinds in 2020.
This is the first commercial bus shipment of THACO after more than 16 years of investment and development in the Vietnamese automotive industry.
