Quang Nam grows into a well-developed province
At the meeting with the Quang Nam provincial Standing Party Committee in early September 2020, Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked Quang Nam to grow into a well-developed province by 2030.
Focus on strategic targets
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated the role of Quang Nam as an economic centre of Vietnam and asked Quang Nam leaders to analyse opportunities and challenges; thereby, the province will propose short-term and long-term strategies and plans for provincial sustainable development.
Accordingly, Quang Nam should implement socio-economic breakthroughs, mobilizing all resources for synchronous investment and harmonious development between provincial economic regions, between Quang Nam and other provinces.
Quang Nam should carry out the economic restructuring, promoting the industrial development towards high-tech industry, increasing the proportion of localization in industrial products, developing infrastructure, investing in eco-agricultural growth, and ensuring sustainable development.
Human factor in development
According to PM Phuc, Quang Nam should focus on training the young staff for the development of provincial Party, reducing the establishment at all levels, strengthening administrative reform, improving public relations, bettering the efficiency of social supervision and criticism activities.
In addition, it is necessary for Quang Nam to join the 4th Industrial Revolution in a combination with high-quality human resource development, to have proper policies to attract talents, to standardise the staff who can work in the digital environment.
Completing key targets
According to the report from Quang Nam, the province has completed 18/25 basic targets. Particularly, it ranks among the provinces with high economic growth rate. The social investment increases by over 30%. GRDP per capita is 1.7 times as much as that in 2015.
There is an average decrease in poverty rate of 1.51% a year. Besides, some strategic policies have been effectively implemented such as the development of strategic projects in the southeast region, comprehensive development of the western region, sustainable poverty reduction, and tourism development.
There are also several positive changes in socio-cultural area, science and technology, social security, and national defence. Quang Nam has always attached special importance to Party building, keeping on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
