Cham Islands: sustainable tourism development

A set of regulations on management and development of tourism in the Cu Lao Cham (Cham Islands)- Hoi An Biosphere Reserve has just been issued.

The set of regulations consists of 5 chapters and 23 articles, focusing on the State management of sightseeing and providing tourism services in the core zone of Cu Lao Cham- Hoi An Biosphere Reserve (Quang Nam province).

It is aimed at preserving the biodiversity, natural resources, cultural and historical values there through tourism activities towards sustainable tourism development.

In particular, there are several regulations on prohibition against using plastic bags, on disposing of rubbish in right places, maintaining environmental sanitation, creating green- clean- beautiful landscapes at beaches and tourist attractions.

Besides, the regulations also require a respect for the local traditional cultural identities and historical values in tourism development.

Traditional festivals associated local cultural identities are encouraged under the management and control of the People's Committee of Hoi An city.
