Launch of Nam Giang - Dak Ta-Ook international border gate
(QNO) - An opening ceremony of Nam Giang - Dak Ta-Ook international border gate between Quang Nam province (Vietnam) and Sekong province (Laos) takes place on August 14 under the decisions of the Governments of Vietnam and Laos.
A bridge of trade exchange
This international border gate being put into operation contributes to the trade development, solidarity and friendship between Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Sekong, (Laos), especially the people living in the border areas.
It is also expected to support both Vietnam’s and Laos’ socio-economic development and national security.
According to Vice Chairman of the Nam Giang District People’s Committee To Ngol Voi, in order to upgrade Nam Giang - Dak Ta-Ook border gate into an international one, the authorities of both sides have paid attention to synchronous development of infrastructure at the border gate area.
At the same time, the road between Dak Cheung with Nam Giang was built, making an important contribution to enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the two provinces in particular and two countries in general.
An expectation
The special relationship between the local people in the Nam Giang - Dac Cheung border area is reflected in different common events such as visiting relatives, twinning, supporting each other in production, economic development and border protection.
Mr. Voi said Nam Giang - Dak Ta-Ook international border gate is expected to be helpful not only for socio-economic development of Nam Giang and Dak Cheung but also for the international market access between Vietnam, Laos and Thailand through the East-West economic corridor from Sekong to Quang Nam and Da Nang port.
In addition, it is hoped to build the communes in Nam Giang district, especially Cha Val area to become a commercial center and an attractive destination for tourists.
