Southern Quang Nam tourism development
(QNO) - Southern Quang Nam is a region with rich potential for tourism development, including both natural and cultural resources and convenient transportation. So, it is necessary to seek solutions to tourism sector in this region.
Solutions to transportation
It is necessary to quickly upgrade Chu Lai airport into an international airport with a capacity of 20 million passengers a year by 2030.
The infrastructure of the airport should be improved so that the airport is permitted to welcome international arrivals in Central Vietnam as Da nang international airport is at full capacity.
At the same time, Quang Nam has to work out a plan to develop Tam Ky railway station into a tourist stop to attract visitors to the southern region of the province.
Besides, it is also needed to develop a tourist sea route through Chu Lai and Ky Ha sea ports. Moreover, international border gates between Quang Nam and Se Kong (Laos) will facilitate caravans from Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and China to Quang Nam and its southern region, contributing to the local tourism development.
It is expected that Quang Nam tourism will be better in the coming time when its transportation system develops well.
Thematic tours
Tam Ky is the provincial administrative centre, suitable for the development of MICE tourism. So, Quang Nam should organise large events at national or regional level in Tam Ky every year.
Another theme for tourism development in this region is flower gardens, especially Sưa (Pterocarpus) flower festival.
It is suggested that Tam Ky should build some other flower gardens of lotus and water lily on Dam river, bougainvillea or paperflower. The flower gardens are believed to attract more visitors to Tam Ky.
Besides, the Vietnamese heroic mother monument is also expected to become one of the attractive tourism sites.
Sports tour theme is another suggestion. The trend of marathon tourism becomes popular. Phu Ninh- Nui Thanh- Tam Ky is a good route with beautiful natural landscapes, encouraging people to join.
In addition, southern Quang Nam has romantic rivers such as Truong Giang and Tam Ky. It is a good condition for river cruise and stay-on-boat tours.
Along with this kind of tourism, Quang Nam needs to restore and build traditional craft villages along the rivers to make the tour more attractive.
Green tourism is always hot and the development of environment-friendly tours should be paid more attention. It is also promised to be a popular type of tourism after Covid-19.
It is also necessary to have policies on tourism supporting and development in southern Quang Nam so that more and more visitors know about the southern region of Quang nam province and the place will soon become a tourist attraction as it is expected.
