Chance for green tourism development
(QNO) - The National Tourism Year- Quang Nam 2022 is an excellent chance for Quang Nam to introduce a new tourism brand, green tourist destination to the public.
Quang Nam is a coastal province in Central Vietnam, owning two world cultural heritages- Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary.
Besides, it is also home to the Cu Lao Cham- Hoi An Biosphere Reserve and nearly 500 historical and cultural relics, beautiful landscapes, traditional festivals and craft villages. All of them are the great potential for tourism development.
According to Director of the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Hong, Quang Nam is making every effort to become a national tourism hub.
During the temporary closure of tourism due to Covid-19, Quang Nam has restored different heritage sites, upgraded and renewed several tourism products, ready for the National Tourism Year 2022.
Quang Nam is also the first locality to apply a set of green criteria associated with environmental protection; conservation and promotion of heritage values, monuments and landscapes; focusing on the safety of visitors, business community and local residents.
The criteria are aimed at building Quang Nam to become a green tourism centre of Vietnam.
Under the theme of a green tourist destination, the National Tourism Year- Quang Nam 2022 consists of 6 groups of programmes, namely spring travel, river tourism attached to environment- friendly organic agriculture and OCOP products, Chu Lai and green tourism products, experience on legendary Ho Chi Minh trail to discover ethnic minorities’ cultural features, summer feelings with the sea and fields, and returning to heritage sites linking with the preservation and promotion of local cultural identity.
Therefore, all the activities in the National Tourism Year- Quang Nam 2022 are required to satisfy the criteria for green tourism and environmental protection.
Reportedly, Quang Nam is a pioneer in saying ‘no’ to plastic bags in tourist sites for green environment that is approved by both the locals and visitors.
Moreover, in the National Tourism Year 2022, there are also some other events such as Green Tourism Week to popularise the green tourism.
The criteria for green tourism have to be fulfilled not only by residential, tourism and travel business communities but also by visitors.
Also according to Mr. Hong, the National Tourism Year 2022 will be a great chance for Quang Nam to revive the provincial tourism sector after two years of negative impacts of Covid-19.
