My Son A10 pedestal: Prosperous memory of Champa culture
(QNO) - My Son A10 pedestal - a national treasure of Vietnam is one of typical pedestals of Champa artistic architecture (Dong Duong style) dating back between the 9th and 10th centuries.
My Son A10 pedestal which is preserved at tower group A of My Son temple complex in Quang Nam province’s Duy Xuyen district.
According to Nguyen Van Tho from the Management Board of My Son Cultural Heritage, there are many things hidden in this pedestal, especially materials. Lead used to combine stones is discovered only in My Son Sanctuary until now.
The My Son A10 pedestal meets 3 important criteria for a national treasure: uniqueness, creativeness, and typicality for a period.
The recognition of My Son A10 pedestal as a Vietnam’s national treasure in 2021 confirms the value of My Son Sanctuary - one of the eight UNESCO’s World Heritages in Vietnam.
The intact pedestal is 2.26m high, 2.58m long and 2.58m wide, containing a set of Linga and Yoni. It was discovered by Vietnamese and Indian experts in May 2021.
