International tourists to Vietnam skyrocket

(QNO) - Vietnam welcomed about 365,300 international tourists in the first 5 months of 2022, 12.8 times higher than that of the same month last year. The number of international arrivals to Quang Nam increased by 67,8%.

According to the General Statistics Office (GSO), 172.9 thousand international tourists went to Vietnam in May 2022, up 70.6% over the previous month.

It was a positive signal after Vietnam announced to fully reopen tourism on March 15. Since then, there has been an increase in the number of searches about Vietnam’s tourism on Google.

International flight routes have been restored and many international delegations went to Vietnam for the 31st SEA Games.

A majority of the foreigners (87.8 percent) travelled to Vietnam by air from January-May.

Globally, Vietnam is one of a few countries with the highest growth rate.

Vietnam tourism is searched in the US, Australia, Singapore, France, Japan, Germany, Canada, India, the UK, Thailand, etc.

According to the GSO, the revenue of accommodation and catering services in the first 5 months of 2022 increased by 15.7% over the same period last year.

Travel revenue in the first five months of the year also increased by 34.7% over the same period last year due to the strong recovery of tourism activities and the 31st SEA Games which attracted international delegations to Vietnam.

The 31st SEA Games events helped the revenue of the national tourism industry in May increase by 69.3% year-on-year.
