500-year- old pottery village in Hoi An

(QNO) - Thanh Ha pottery village is over 500 years old. It is one of the tourist attractions in Hoi An city (Quang Nam province).

Thanh Ha pottery village is located on the Thu Bon river, about 3km west of Hoi An centre. Its pottery has recently been recognised as a national intangible heritage. The village is always a popular destination in Hoi An.

Thanh Ha pottery is made of clay taken from the Thu Bon river, having high aesthetic values, and showing the artisans’ feelings and affections.

There are 32 households and 80 employees working in Thanh Ha pottery village. 5 of them are excellent craftsmen and one good.

Thanh Ha pottery includes two types, brown and red. Brown pottery is fired in an 800oC atmosphere and a lower temperature (300oC) is used for red pottery.
