10-year anniversary celebration of UNESCO's Cham Islands world biosphere reserve
(QNO) - The 10-year anniversary ceremony of Cham Islands recognized as a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO was organized in Tan Hiep commune, Quang Nam province on May 25. Present at the event were leaders of Quang Nam provinces, representatives from Central Government and international organisations, scientists and local people.

At the ceremony, Nguyen The Hung- Vice Chairman of the Hoi An city’s People’s Committee and Head of the Management Board of the Cham Islands World Biosphere Reserve talked about the achievements of local people and authorities over the past 10 years and the challenges Cham Islands will face in the coming time. Professor Nguyen Hoang Tri- Chairman of the National Committee of the Man and the Biosphere Program said the most remarkable points on Cham Islands were the conservation for development and development for conservation.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter to congratulate the Cham Islands. In his letter, he praised the local great efforts and significant results in recent years, especially via the campaigns of Cham Islands saying no to nylon bags and plastic waste reduction.
