Vo Tan Tan introduces Vietnamese bamboo to the world
(QNO) - Everyday, Vo Tan Tan’s Taboo Bamboo shop in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province attracts a lot of visitors, mostly foreigners. The shop displays electronic engineer Vo Tan Tan’s unique products made of bamboo, consisting of dragonflies, desks, chairs, beds, bicycles, straws, glasses, chopsticks, bowls.

Maya, an Israeli tourist felt very happy because it was the first time she had made a bamboo mug by herself and it was in Vietnam. Bamboo trees are not grown in Israel. Acrroding to Maya, bamboo products in Tan’s shop are very unique and beautiful.

Vo Tan Tan was born and grew up in a handicraft – making family in Cam Thanh village. He could make bamboo products when he was 10 years old. Tan started to work as an electronic and telecommunication engineer in 2000.

Nearly 10 years later when Hoi An city ban motobikes and motor vehicles travelling in the ancient quarter, Tan intended to make environmentally friendly products of bamboo and coconut palm. He started the work with bamboo bicycles which were then brought to European and American countries by tourists. Since then, he has produced various of bamboo products. Recently, an bamboo electric car has been sucessfully produced by Tan.
