The workshop is part of the biodiversity conservation component of the project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation (VFBC) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

It is aimed at raising travel agencies’ awareness and responsibility for protecting the natural environment and propagandising to reduce demand for illegal wildlife meat consumption.

The workshop discussed responsible tourism activities associated with nature and wildlife conservation, current status of wildlife abuse from tourism-related perspective, potential in national parks and conservation areas for Quang Nam tourism development.

Reportedly, Vietnam currently has 33 national parks, 57 natural reserves, 13 areas for species and habitat conservation, 53 landscape protection areas, and 9 biosphere reserves.

In Quang Nam, there is one biosphere reserve, one national park, and two species and habitat conservation areas.

So, ecotourism has much potential for businesses to exploit and build typical tour routes.
