Survey of Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery

(QNO) - Indian experts along with the Quang Nam Centre for Management of Monuments and Landscapes have just done a survey of the special national relic site of Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery in Binh Dinh Bac commune, Thang Binh district of Quang Nam province.

They also had a working session with local authorities to have a proper plan for future preservation and restoration.

Earlier, the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee approved the USD-5.1-billion plan to recover and preserve Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery.

The archeological excavation will be done in an area of 7.3 hectares.

Dong Duong Buddhist Monastery is also known as the archaeological and architectural relic of Dong Duong Cham art.

It was built by King Indravarman II in 875 to worship Laksmindra – Lokesvara, who protected the Champa dynasty.
