The 3-day event of the 19th Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange taking place in Hoi An closed on the evening of August 6.

Present at the event were Shimonishi Koyoshi - Deputy Head of the Japanese General Consulate in Danang city, Shinoda Takanobu - Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Office in Vietnam, and leaders of Hoi An city.

The 19th Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange took place with many interesting activities such as Vietnam - Japan arts exchange, Yosakoi dance, modern dance, Bon dance, disguise, boat racing, an appearance of the wedding of Vietnamese Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro, guides to the Japanese art of flower arrangement, painting under the theme of Hoi An children and Japanese culture, Cosplay contest, Aikido performance.

Besides, visitors to the event were able to take part in several frequent activities, including Hoi An fairs, Vietnam - Japan culinary space, Hoi An - Japan documentary exhibition, wooden sculptures exhibition themed Old Hoi An trading port, Tempera painting exhibition by artist AmiYasugahira, Japanese calligraphy, Origami, and trying on Yukata - a Japanese unlined cotton summer kimono.

According to Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the Hoi An city’s People’s Committee, the 19th Hoi An - Japan cultural exchange was a significant event on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations (21/9/1973 - 21/9/2023).
