The call started when the Prime Minister approved the plans to expand the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, other industrial zones and the non-tariff zone at the Chu Lai airport.

Besides, the system of seaports and wharfs in Quang Nam will be developed further.

The Chu Lai and Ky Ha seaports, where there are current international routes to China, South Korea and Japan, will become the type-1 seaports.

Accordingly, QNIZA calls for investment in a waterway passage for 50,000- ton vessels to serve the import-export of goods and travel services. It is expected to start in 2023 and come into operation by 2026.

At the same time, Quang Nam needs investors to widen the Tam Hiep, Tam Hoa and Tam Giang seaports, and  develop the Chu Lai seaport so that it can receive 50,000 DWT ships by 2030.

The water passage, the system of seaports and wharfs, the non-tariff zone and the National Highway 14D will facilitate the transport of agricultural products and others through Nam Giang international border gate to the Chu Lai seaport.

The projects will help enhance connectivity between Quang Nam and other provinces and cities, building a centre for logistics there, contributing to reducing  transport costs, increasing the competitive advantages of businesses in Quang Nam, and promoting the export to East Asia and Southeast Asia.

Quang Nam is also planning to set up a national centre for mechanical engineering in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, develop industrial parks and clusters into eco-industrial zones to join global supply chains.
