Vietnam – Laos investment cooperation
(QNO) - A conference on investment cooperation in trade, tourism and agriculture between Vietnamese localities and four provinces in Southern Laos including Champasak, Attapeu, Sekong and Salavan was jointly organised on September 1 by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse and Champasak province of Laos.
Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh, leaders of Vietnamese and Lao provinces (Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Lam Dong, Kon Tum, Binh Duong, Champasak, Attapeu, Sekong and Salavan), Lao and Vietnamese business communities attended the conference.
Removing bottlenecks
In his speech at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Trung – Consul General of Vietnam in four provinces of Southern Laos emphasized the conference aimed to promote cooperation, investment and trade between four provinces of Southern Laos and Vietnam’s provinces and cities.
At the same time, it is an opportunity for Vietnam’s and Laos’ localities to exchange information, remove bottlenecks and expand their investment cooperation.
According to Consul General Nguyen Van Trung, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse of Laos has closely coordinated with the four provinces of Southern Laos to foster the cooperation between the two sides such as investment and trade promotion.
In addition, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse also supported businesses to implement projects effectively, to create jobs for local people, which contributed to poverty reduction, economic development, and social security.
Investment promotion
Speaking at the conference, Chairman Thanh said Quang Nam established cooperative relations with four provinces of Southern Laos, especially the twinning relationship with Sekong province and cooperation agreement on trade, investment, tourism, culture and education with Champasak province.
The cooperation between Quang Nam province and Southern Laos’ provinces has achieved important results.
So, he believed the conference was an opportunity for businesses and investors of Quang Nam province to promote investment in Southern Laos in the near future.
On this occasion, a cooperation agreement between Quang Nam and Champasak on cultural and tourism development was signed.
