Increasing exploitation of exports from Laos
(QNO) - Laos, a landlocked country mainly exports agricultural products, minerals and electrical appliances via seaports in Southeast Asian countries. Chu Lai port, with the advantage of the gateway to the sea from southern Laos, has synchronised and upgraded the infrastructure, equipment, technology, and service chains to exploit the exports from Laos.
Prospects for exploitation of exports from Laos
Lao import-export turn-over was USD 14.4 billion in 2022, up 6.7% compared to 2021. A lot of goods were frequently exported, including electrical appliances, gold, paper, copper ore, rubber, cassava chips, and bananas.
Lao import-export demands are currently increasing, becoming a chance for ports in Central Vietnam, including Chu Lai port under Truong Hai International Logistics Limited Liability Company (THILOGI).
Chu Lai port is exploiting goods for export from Savanakhet, Sepon, Attapeu, Pakse, and Sekong of Laos.
Reportedly, Truong Hai Star 3 - a container ship has recently brought 17 hundred tons of casava chips to China from Sekong through Chu Lai port.
It is known that Chu Lai port with good service quality, especially its large warehouses and yards, can meet import-export businesses’ demands. So, it is usually believed and chosen.
Increasing investment
Besides exploiting domestic sea routes Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai - Hai Phong and vice versa, Chu Lai port has directly connected with international sea routes to major ports in Japan, South Korea, and China which helps to reduce the import-export cost, save time, and bring double benefits to customers from Vietnam Central and Central Highlands, Laos, and Cambodia.
Chu Lai port is making every effort to gradually increase the volume of goods through the port, improving loading and unloading capacity, reducing the cost of import-export services to attract more goods through the port.
Reportedly, Chu Lai port will put the 50-thousand-ton harbour into operation in the coming time.
At the same time, its warehouse system will be enlarged to store more commodities.
The port will also invest in and use modern technology to reduce service costs.
Hopefully, Chu Lai port will become an international transhipment gateway in Vietnam Central, contributing to the local and regional socio-economic development.
