Impressive change of Quang Nam industry
(QNO) - After 20 years of re-establishment, Quang Nam province’s industry has impressively changed. Automotive manufacturing and assembly is the leading sector of Vietnam’s industry.

According to Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Quang, the province’s industrial production value increased an average of 24.74% per year in the period of 1997-2016. In 2016, this value got an estimate of VND 82,200 billion.
Besides the economic zones, Quang Nam has 9 industrial zones covering an area of over 4,734ha, attracting 202 investment projects with the total registered capital of nearly USD 2 billion and VND 3,000 billion, creating job opportunities for more than 47,000 people in the locality. These remarkable achievements are the results of planning and building the industrial zones and clusters soon, typically Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (OEZ) and Dien Nam-Dien Ngoc Industrial Zone (IZ). Chu Lai OEZ now has five IZs with an area of 4,500ha; three among them were put into operation including Northern Chu Lai IZ, Tam Hiep IZ, Truong Hai Auto Mechanical IZ. Moreover, Quang Nam province has created favourable conditions for investors into the province with the flexible support policies, administrative procedure reform, open trade and investment climate. The effective investment projects such as Chu Lai float glass, Dong Tam enamelled tile, large tourism projects by Indochina Capital, VinaCapital, Victoria, Golden Sand, Palm Garden have created sustainable development for the province’s industry. In Chu Lai OEZ, an electrical and gas center has been built to exploit a large source of gas under the projects of Ca Voi Xanh (Blue Whale), a premise for its kind of center in the central region and nationwide.
According to Head of the Chu Lai OEZ Management Board Do Xuan Dien, Quang Nam has attracted South Korean investors with the projects of garment and textile in recent years. So, a suitable plan for synchronous development is very necessary for the province. The general plan for support industrial development until 2020 and vision to 2015 approved by the Quang Nam authority focuses on consumer products, especially auto manufacturing and assembly, heavy industrial equipment, agro-forest-fisheries, improvement of product quality and diversification, hi-tech products, abilities to design and manufacture spare parts for export. Expectedly, the province’s industrial production value will reach VND 6,800 billion by 2020; and Quang Nam garment and textile center will be built. Besides, service-tourism is also considered as a key economic sector of Quang Nam province, contributing to harmonious and sustainable socio-economic and environmental growth, poverty reduction, good solutions to social security and natural resources.
