Google honors Hoi An ancient town on its homepage

(QNO) - It was the first time a Vietnam’s site was honoured on the homepage of google.com.vn.

On July 16, Google Doodle designed a beautiful image of Hoi An ancient town (Quang Nam province, Vietnam), Chua Cau (Japanese Bridge) sparkling in a lantern festival. It aims to honor Hoi An ancient town where its ancient features have been maintained despite of a lot of ups and downs.

According to Google.com, Hoi An lantern festival is usually held on the 14th day of every lunar month. Local people burn incense and float lighted lanterns on the river, which is sparkling and blazing at that time.

Located on the banks of the Thu Bon river, Hoi An was one of the busiest trade ports in Southeast Asia from the 15th -19th centuries. However, the name of Hoi An means a peaceful meeting place.

Earlier,  Hoi An was voted as the best cities in the world in 2019 by Travel + Leisure readers based on the criteria: landscapes, culture, architecture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping and overall value.

Hoi An was recognized as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site in 1998 and has become one of the top destinations in Vietnam.
